The Vision and Mission
I love cemeteries. In my travels, I have always been fascinated by their variety and sometimes popularity among locals.
I first became professionally interested in cemeteries when the late Dr. Philip Ogilvie, one of my professors at George Washington University, assigned the task of doing a feasibility study on Congressional Cemetery in Southeast, DC.

I believe cemeteries are a viable object of niche tourism, i.e., a type of attration that has the power to draw tourists on the merits of their culture and historial value, or cultural heritage. I think you will see in these pages that each cemetery is unique and is an expression of the culture in which it appears and from which it stems.
